Construction of an earth shelter -- Boscobel, WI

Windows are framed.

Wood studs were fitted to the dome
by a clever carpenter, David Lewallen
of Boscobel, who made small cuts on
the backside of the 2x4s allowing them
to bend to the ceiling.

Drywall has now been placed over the studs to frame out the bedroom.

September 10, 2003 - With the ceiling plastered inside, David Lewallen stuccos the outside overhang.

This view of the living room shows the textured plastered ceiling.

A view of the interior utility room from the hallway.  Notice the light spot in the upper left of the picture. It is from the light tube (see photo right).

A light tube brings light to the interior utility room.

Stucco is complete on the front of the building.

The driveway is being sealed.

Detail of window frame and stone work.

The mound over the house has been seeded with ‘No-mow’ grass in late September 2003
